Asian Tour raises $60,000 for Tsunami Relief

The Asian Tour has raised over S$60,000 for the Tsunami Relief Fund following a Charity Pro-Am at the Sentosa Golf Club's Serapong Course held on Monday.

Asian Tour Chief Executive Louis Martin said the funds would go towards the relief efforts of the Red Cross following the Tsunami disaster that struck parts of the region on December 26.

A total of 68 participants, including 17 Asian Tour players, competed in the fund-raiser.

"We are delighted to chip in towards the relief efforts following the tsunami tragedy and will hand over the funds to the Red Cross. On behalf of the Asian Tour, I would like to thank the donors and also our players who took time off to be a part of this charity drive," said Martin.

The Asian Tour pros who played were Mardan Mamat, Scott Barr, Marcus Both, Lam Chih Beng, Ross Bain, Gerry Norquist, Chawalit Plaphol, Zaw Moe, Peter Teravainen, Bryan Saltus, Rick Gibson, Unho Park, Danny Chia, Edward Michaels, Craig McLean, Richard Moir and Kyi Hla Han, who is the Asian Tour Board Chairman.

Martin also thanked Sentosa Golf Club for hosting the fund-raiser, as well as 100Plus, Callaway, Carlsberg, I Golf, TaylorMade and Titleist for their support of the event.
