Thongchai grabs second spot as Singh makes record haul

Thongchai Jaidee's victory in the Volvo Masters of Asia and his US$104,000 prize has boosted him into second place on the final UBS Asian Tour Order of Merit for 2006.

Thongchai finishes the season over US$50,000 ahead of compatriot Prom Meesawat, although Prom played more than twice as many tournaments as Thongchai for his US$392,000 haul.

Jeev Milka Singh had already clinched the Order of Merit title at the UBS Hong Kong Open, but his tied sixth finish in Bangkok also brings him Asian Tour record earnings of US$591,884 from only 14 tournaments.

Charlie Wi in fourth position and Andrew Buckle round out the top five, while last year's Order of Merit winner, Thaworn Wiratchant, with an excellent 4th place at the Volvo Masters of Asia, has leaped from 13th into the top ten to finish the 2006 campaign in 9th position.
