Myanmar Open postponed
The Asian Tour announced today that it was rescheduling February's
Myanmar Open to a later date in the year.
Asian Tour Chief Executive Louis Martin said the decision was to
provide every opportunity for the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open to
be staged from February 23-26, and not clash with another event
on the Asian Tour calendar.
The European Tour announced last week that the Indonesia Open would
make a return this season after the championship was co-sanctioned
for the first time with the Asian Tour in 2005.
"With the consent of our Tournament Players Committee (TPC),
the Asian Tour has taken the initiative to move the Myanmar Open,
which was slated from February 23-26, in an effort to accommodate
the Indonesia Open.
"The organisers and sponsors of the Myanmar Open have graciously
allowed us to move their event and I would like to thank them for
their understanding.
"We hope to finalise all sanctioning agreements with the European
Tour for the Indonesia Open very soon," said Martin.
