Kang is birdie leader going to Brunei

American ace Anthony Kang will be hoping to conquer the greens when he tees off at the Empire Hotel and Country Club on Thursday.

Kang is on the verge of breaking the 200th mark as he currently sits on top in the Birdie leader category. He fired home a massive 199 birdies from 17 events on the Asian Tour this season.

Prom Meesawat is placed second with 186 birdies while India’s Amandeep Johl is ranked third with 181. It will be a memorable outing for Johl in Brunei as it also marks his 200th appearance on the Asian Tour.

With the greens in superb condition at the par 71 Empire Course, Australia’s Kane Webber is in prime position to snatch for the lead in the Putting Average category. He is in second place with an average putt of 1.69 while American Gerry Norquist leads the way with an average of 1.7.

Thailand’s Thaworn Wiratchant is on course this week to pull away from countryman Prayad Marsaeng and Malaysia’s Iain Steel who are all tied in third with an average of 1.71.
