15 Asian Tour members in world top 200
A
total of 15 Asian Tour members are featured in the top-200 of the
latest Official World Golf Ranking.
American Edward Loar was the latest member to join the select group
following his outstanding tied second finish at the Alfred Dunhill
Links Championship in Scotland. He moved up to 171st position.
Korea's Yang Yong-eun, winner of the Korean Open last month, is
ranked 80th, playing most of his golf on the Japan Golf Tour this
year. Compatriot Hur Suk-ho is ranked one rung below while Choi
Kyung-ju, who has played on the US PGA Tour since 1999, is ranked
53rd.
Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee, a two-time Asian Tour number one, is
placed at 109th on the latest ranking, followed by Australian Andrew
Buckle, who is 125th. India's Jeev Milkha Singh, currently leading
the Asian Tour's UBS Order of Merit, is 138th, followed by compatriot
Jyoti Randhawa in 144th place.
Upcoming Chinese star Liang Wen-chong, who has been enjoying one
of his best seasons as a professional, has moved up to 149th in
the world. The other Asian Tour members ranked in the OWGR include
Thaworn Wiratchant (163rd), Prayad Marksaeng (176th), Wang Ter-chang
(181st), Shiv Kapur (183rd), Jarrod Lyle (186th) and Charlie Wi
(192nd).
England's Simon Dyson is the highest ranked Asian Tour member at
76th place on the world ranking. Dyson, who won the Order of Merit
in Asia in 2000, won twice this season and has played primarily
on the European Tour.
