Asian Tour announces support for First Tee Singapore
The
Asian Tour has announced its full support towards The First Tee
of Singapore, a non-profit organisation aimed at impacting the lives
of young people through golf.
Asian Tour Chief Executive Louis Martin said that the Asian Tour
was delighted to be an Official Supporter of the innovative program
as it is part of the Tour's objectives to support grass roots development.
"The core values and traditions associated with the Royal and
Ancient game provide many positive life lessons which impact society,
especially amongst young people. Golf is not just about winning
or losing but instead teaches people key values such as integrity,
honesty, respect and sportsmanship, traits that provide the very
foundation of a better society," said Martin.
"It is for this reason that the Asian Tour is honoured to
be an Official Supporter of The First Tee of Singapore. This program
has been well received in the United States and through its first
Asian chapter, I am confident The First Tee of Singapore will teach
young people here the many positive values that are linked closely
to golf."
As part of this new partnership, Martin added that Asian Tour players
have pledged their support for The First Tee of Singapore and look
forward to assisting in its multi-varied programs. The strategic
alliance is a perfect fit as the Asian Tour headquarters is located
in Singapore.
"When we were approached by The First Tee of Singapore to support
its program, we were simply delighted to extend our cooperation.
We hope to assist in various ways which includes getting our Asian
Tour players to be involved in one way or another," said Martin.
"The Asian Tour believes The First Tee of Singapore can help
make a difference to the lives of young people through golf. This
program can help shape future champions from Singapore but more
importantly it will make a difference to the lives of our children."
Ben Woo, President of The First Tee of Singapore expressed his excitement
at todays announcement.
We are grateful to have the Asian Tour supporting our mission.
Our accomplishments over the past three years are a reflection of
the generosity and character of a growing group of individuals and
organisations like Asian Tour that have joined us in our efforts
to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of young people
in Singapore," he said.
