Park extends lead at Q-school after second round

Korea’s Jin Park extended his lead after firing a two-under-par 70 in the second round of the Asian Tour Qualifying School Stage One at the Plutaluang Golf Course in Pattaya on Thursday.

Finland’s Jaakko Makitalo blasted his second straight three-under-par 68 to remain on top of the pack at the Pattana Golf and Sports Resort.

With a two-day total of six-under-par 136, Makitalo has a slim one stroke advantage over Japan’s Hironori Yoshida who leaped to second spot after a 67. It was disappointment for Hong Kong’s youngster Jimmy Ko who stumbled to a 78 and missed the cut by a single stroke after a 152 total in joint 77th place.

At the Emerald Golf Club, James Morrison of England carded a 67 and was tied for the lead with South African Albert Pistorius who shot a 69 for a 141 total.

An estimated 45 players from Stage One will gain entry into the Final Stage where they will battle 129 exempted players. Only the top-40 and ties from the Final Stage will gain their card for the 2007 season.
