Jin Park finishes on top at Q-school

Korea’s Jin Park led 46 other players into the Final Stage after the completion of the Asian Tour Qualifying School Stage One in Pattaya on Saturday.

Park produced his second straight one-over-par 73 but it was enough for the top position with his six-under-par 282 total at the Plutaluang Golf Course. He finished one stroke ahead of Canadian Rafael Lee who ended his round with a 70. Firing a similar score was Scotland’s Scott G. Jamieson and Holland’s Guido Van Der Valk who claimed joint third place.

Finnish player Jaakko Makitalo ended his week with a 67 and was the best finisher with his 10-under-par 274 total at the Pattana Golf and Sports Resort.

Chris Kamin of United States carded a 67 in second place while Australia’s Rowan Beste, who was Queensland’s Rookie of the Year in 2004, made it to the Final Stage after a 70 in tied 10th position.

South African Albert Pistorius hung on to a 71 to finish ahead of the field at the Emerald Golf Club. His five-under-par 283 total was a stroke better than America’s Tim Moody who carded a 69 in lone second spot.

A total of 47 players from Stage One in Pattaya have booked their places for the Final Stage which will be held at Pattana and Emerald Golf Club from December 13-16. They will join an already exempted 129 players in the Final Stage where the top-40 and ties will earn their playing privileges on the Asian Tour.
