Buckle stays inside top 100 in world

Andrew Buckle has remained in the top 100 in the latest Official World Golf Ranking after a sensational first half of the year.

Australia’s Buckle continued to stay in the top fray and is ranked 99th in the world. The Brisbane-born talent made an early impression, finishing runner-up at the Enjoy Jakarta HSBC Indonesia Open and TCL Classic in China.

The 24-year-old has also enjoy success outside of the region when the two-time world junior champion won his first ever Nationwide Tour title in the Virginia Beach Open at the United States last month. He is currently ranked third on the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit.

Japan's Shingo Katayama is the highest ranked Asian in 40th position, followed by Korea's Choi Kyung-ju, who is a further 10 rungs below.

Thai sensation Thongchai Jaidee, who is currently fifth in the UBS Order of Merit, was six spots ahead of Englishman Simon Dyson in 110th position. Thongchai, a seven-time winner on the Asian Tour, has been focusing much of his game in Europe so far this year.

Countryman Thaworn Wiratchant, last season’s Order of Merit winner, was in 138th spot while Indian ace Jyoti Randhawa was ranked 150th.

Charlie Wi of Korea, the Maybank Malaysian Open champion, was five spots behind Randhawa while Aussie rising star Jarrod Lyle was in 157th position followed by Korea’s Hur Suk-ho. Arjun Atwal of India stood in 162nd spot.

Jeev Milkha Singh, who is on top in the UBS Order of Merit, is ranked 165th position. He is enjoying a good spell, winning the Volvo China Open title and emerging runner-up twice in the Pakistan Open and SK Telecom Open in Korea. Last week, he played in all four rounds at the US Open in Winged Foot.

Indian star Shiv Kapur, last season’s Volvo Masters of Asia winner, trailed Singh by in 168th spot while Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng was ranked 190th.

Aussie talent Terry was placed 197th while compatriot Scott strange took a giant leap when he clinched the Philippine Open title and broke into the top 200 in 199th spot.
