Buckle stays in contention

Asian Tour member Andrew Buckle remained in contention at the Nationwide Tour Championship in the United States on Saturday after a third round of one-under-par 71.

The Australian, who was tied for the overnight lead, is tied third on 207, four behind leader Matt Kuchar with the final round to play. Presently 18th on the money list, Buckle will earn promotion to the US PGA Tour next season by staying inside the top-22 of the ranking come Sunday.

Compatriot Jarrod Lyle stumbled to a 75 for tied 41st place but at 15th position on the money ranking, the burly Australian should move safely onto the US PGA Tour next season.

However, Korea's Charlie Wi will likely have to return to Qualifying School in his bid to play on the main Tour in the US after adding a 77 in his third round which left him in equal 53rd position with 18 holes remaining.

In the Visa Taheiyo Masters, Chinese Taipei's Yeh Wei-tze moved into contention with a third round 69. The former Malaysian Open champion has a three-day total of 208, only four shots behind leader Makoto Inoue.
