Buckle and Ho invited to US PGA
Asian
Tour member Andrew Buckle, who has enjoyed a superb season so far,
has been invited to compete in the US PGA Championship from August
17-20.
The talented Aussie will join Korean duo Choi Kyung-ju and Hur
Suk-ho in the year's final major at Medinah Golf Club.
The Aussie has risen to 88th in the world rankings after a stellar
year, posting two runner-up finishes in Asia and claiming a maiden
title on the Nationwide Tour in the United States.
Buckle will line-up alongside the likes of Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh
and title holder Phil Mickleson at Medinah Golf Club. He competed
in the British Open at Royal Liverpool last month and played in
all four rounds.
The invitation to Buckle came from the PGA of America, who traditionally
invites the top-100 players in the world to compete in the championship.
Buckle finished second at the Enjoy Jakarta HSBC Indonesia Open
and TCL Classic in China, both events which were co-sanctioned with
the European Tour. He has spent the past few months playing on the
Nationwide Tour where he is hoping to finish inside the top-20 of
the money list to earn a US PGA Tour card. Buckle is presently ranked
15th.
Hur, known better as SK Ho on the international scene, enjoyed an
impressive tied 11th finish at the British Open and was also invited
by the PGA of America to tee it up at Medinah. He is ranked 73rd
in the world.
Choi, who is a three-time winner on the US PGA Tour, is hoping to
snap a poor run in the majors where he has missed the cut at the
US Masters, US Open and British Open this year.
