Wi finishes second in Nationwide Tour event

Korea’s Charlie Wi fired a steady three-under-par 68 as he finished second best in the Rex Hospital Open in Raleigh, North Carolina on Sunday.

Wi, who is ranked second on the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit, shot a four-day total of 15-under-par 269. He finished a stroke behind champion Brenden Pappas of South Africa who carded a 69 in the final round at the Nationwide Tour event.

The Korean, who has won seven titles on the Asian Tour, enjoyed a bogey free round on Sunday when he scored birdies on the fourth, fifth and 12th holes. Australia’s Jarrod Lyle, who finished fourth in the Volvo China Open on the Asian Tour, shot a 74 as he claimed tied 56th position.

Meanwhile, Indian talent Jyoti Randhawa fired a four-under-par 65 in the final round to finish joint 14th position on the European Tour’s Celtic Manor Wales Open on Sunday.

Randhawa was blemish free on Sunday as he carded four birdies to finish with a four-day total of eight-under-par 268. The 34-year-old, a five-time winner on the Asian Tour, was tied alongside England’s Anthony Wall who shot a 70.

Sweden’s Robert Karlsson clinched the title after a 71 three strokes ahead of second place finisher Paul Broadhurst of England.

In Japan, it was Frankie Minoza who shot an even-par 71 in the final round as he was joint 15th position in the JCB Classic Sendai. The Filipino ace shot a similar score in the opening day followed by two consecutive 70s. He was tied alongside Japanese trio of Hiroyuki Fujita, Kenichi Kuboya and Kaname Yokoo.
