Choi enters World top 30

Korea’s Choi Kyung-ju broke into the top-30 on the Official World Golf Ranking after his superb showing on the US PGA Tour at the weekend.

Choi, who is better known as KJ, is now ranked 28th as a result of his four-stroke victory at the Chrysler Classic. It was Choi’s fourth win in the US, thanks to his new driver which has helped him find more fairways.

India’s Jeev Milkha Singh was equally impressive when he triumphed at the Volvo Masters in Spain as he shot up the rankings to 77th position. Singh, who has led the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit leader since his Volvo China Open success in April, completed a unique Volvo double by overcoming Europe’s top players. He became only the third Asian to win on European soil.

Korea’s Yang Yong-eun, who won the Kolon-Hana Bank Korea Open last month, improved to 76th spot while compatriot Hur Suk-ho rose to 85th position after a strong showing in Japan.

After winning his second Hero Honda Indian Open title two weeks ago, India’s Jyoti Randhawa was in 105th place while Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee slipped a spot to 111th. Australia’s Andrew Buckle is 131st.

Former Asian Tour regulars, Sweden's Daniel Chopra is ranked 141st while American Ted Purdy is 86th. Englishman Simon Dyson, the Enjoy Jakarta HSBC Indonesia Open winner, is ranked 79th.

Tiger Woods stayed on top of the ranking followed by compatriot Jim Furyk in second and Phil Mickelson making up the top three.
