Choi and Kapur make cut at Bridgestone

Korea’s Choi Kyung-ju improved in the second round when he was even-par for the-day at the World Golf Championships -Bridgestone Invitational on Friday.

Choi, who has won three Asian Tour titles, blasted three birdies against an equal number of bogeys as he rose to joint 48th position at the Firestone Country Club.

India’s Shiv Kapur, who was Rookie of the Year last season, slipped on the second day when he shot one birdie, four bogeys and a double bogey in joint 61st position. The 24-year-old qualified the event after winning the Volvo Masters of Asia last December.

Defending champion Tiger Woods snatched the lead when he fired a 64 while American David Love III was a stroke off the pace after a 65.

On the Nationwide Tour, Korea’s Charlie Wi climbed up to joint fourth spot when he scored a 66 at the National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic on Friday. His two-day total of six-under-par 138 was four strokes behind leader Boo Weekley.

Asian Tour member Jarrod Lyle fired an eagle at the par five eighth hole, three birdies against two bogeys as he finished with a 69 in tied 61st spot.
