Liang in joint third in Japan after two rounds

Asian Tour member Liang Wen-chong shot a one-under-par 70 as he climbed up to joint third position at the Fujisankei Classic in Japan.

The 28-year-old Chinese ace carded three birdies against two bogeys while Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng stumbled to a 74.

India’s Jeev Milkha Singh, the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit leader, carded a 72 and was in joint 15th position. After a fine start, Thailand’s Thammanoon Srirot slipped to tied 33rd position when he scored a 75. But it was a big leap for compatriot Chawalit Plaphol who shot a 69 also in tied 33rd spot.

Japan’s Hideto Tanihara grabbed the lead after a 67 to a two-day total of six-under-par 136 ahead of countryman Shingo Katayama who was even-par for the day.
