Singh, Liang & Prayad all make top 3 in Japan

India's Jeev Milkha Singh, Liang Wen-chong of China and Thai stalwart Prayad Marksaeng warmed up for the Barclays Singapore Open with superb top-three finishes in Japan on Sunday.

The talented Liang continued to show his maturity on the international scene, finishing second behind Japanese star Shingo Katayama in the Fujisankei Classic on the Japan Golf Tour.

Katayama, who will also appear in the US$3 million Barclays Singapore Open starting on Thursday, romped to a winning 10-under-par 274 total, three shots clear of a fast-charging Liang.

Liang signed off with a blistering 64 or his fourth top-five appearance in his last four tournaments. Singh, the current Asian Tour's UBS Order of Merit leader, and Prayad were amongst those who shared third place.

Singh, winner of the Volvo China Open in April, signed off with a 72 for a two-under-par 282 total while Prayad carded a 71. The Barclays Singapore Open, Asia's richest national Open, will be played at the Sentosa Golf Club.

Chinese trailblazer Zhang Lian-wei also enjoyed a winning send-off to Sentosa when he triumphed in a play-off in the Omega China Tour, winning the Shanghai leg after beating Huang Ming-jie in the second hole of a sudden-death play-off.
