Golfbug.tv links with Asian Tour
GolfBug.tv,
the worlds first broadband TV golf channel, has linked up
with the Asian Tour as part of its ongoing objective of becoming
a truly global golf offering.
Under the agreement, GolfBug.tv will now broadcast a two-minute
news highlights package of each Asian Tour event on a regular basis
allowing golf fans around the world to keep up with professional
golf in Asia.
The first programme aired featured the best moments from the Crowne
Plaza Open at Yalong Bay Golf Club in Sanya, China staged from August
17 to 20.
The US$200,000 tournament saw the exciting new Thai talent Chinarat
Phadungsil, just 17 years old, overcome his compatriot Prom Meesawat
and Chinese Taipei's Lin Wen-tang in a sudden-death play-off.
GolfBug.tv is delighted to be showing the best of Asian golf
on a weekly basis as we have a lot of viewers in the region,
commented Andrew Cooke, founder of GolfBug.tv. It also gives
our viewers around the world a chance to get to know whats
happening in Asian golf and ideally develop a long term interest
in it.
The Asian Tour has a full schedule of events from now until December
and GolfBug.tv will give the Tour and its players some valuable
global exposure.
Asian Tour Chairman Kyi Hla Han welcomed the new partnership with
GolfBug.tv. "The advancement of technology over the past decade
has created numerous opportunities in the media environment. Our
agreement with GolfBug.tv will certainly lift the Asian Tour onto
a new and exciting platform and we believe that the Tour's profile
will be raised significantly through the exposure that we will receive
via our association with GolfBug.tv."
The number of golf fans watching GolfBug.tv is growing by the day
and the statistics indicate that more and more people will be turning
on their PCs and laptops to entertain themselves and to pursue their
hobbies such as golf.
In fact, recent global trends show that people spend more time surfing
the internet than watching TV and the rise of broadcast access and
internet hotspots indicates that the trend will continue apace.
In general, GolfBug.tv offers golf enthusiasts at all levels of
the game the chance to watch an informative and entertaining daily
schedule of golf TV programmes and access information on all things
golf direct from their PC.
Available free-to-view and on-demand 24/7, programming includes
daily roundups of European Tour events, highlights of past tournaments
from around the world and expert instruction.
The channel combines programming with the latest news from the professional
tours around the world, reviews on some of the worlds best
courses and resorts, interviews with leading personalities in the
game, as well as reviews of the latest equipment.
GolfBug.tv is also looking to carry on the fun and humour that golfers
share on the course at the weekend on the internet by including
additional site attractions such as the chance to interact with
a regularly-updated golf blog and to enter light-hearted competitions.
Using broadband TV as the medium to broadcast means that GolfBug.tv
can combine the best of traditional broadcasting with the control
and interaction you would expect from a website, explained
Cooke.
Viewers are able to watch a daily schedule of programming,
but also view video content on demand when and where they wish as
long as they have access to a PC or laptop and a broadband connection;
at home, at work or whilst travelling.
