"Bringing international goodwill through golf"

The first keynote speaker has been announced for The Goodwill Forum, a pioneering collaboration between The Celtic Manor Resort and Mission Hills Golf Club, China designed to enhance trade, tourism and cultural exchange between the United Kingdom and China through golf. Long Yongtu, former Vice-Minister of Trade for China and the Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia has accepted an invitation to be the keynote speaker at the event which takes place at Mission Hills Golf Club, China on 12th November 2006.

The Goodwill Forum will be followed by The Goodwill Trophy, a golf tournament featuring the world's best golfers that will see the Ryder Cup countries of Europe and the United States face an international Rest of the World team in a matchplay format.

For the first time in China, The Goodwill Forum will bring together leading figures from the business world in a unique environment. Top executives of global commerce and leading business thinkers will gather to focus on the significant issues facing the world economy. The Goodwill Forum will provide these figures with a platform and an opportunity to share strategies and forge alliances.

Participants at the Goodwill Business Forum will include chairmen, CEOs, and presidents of major multinational corporations. A combination of high calibre guests, global representation, a strategically-focused programme led by the hosts and sponsors, and the opportunity to network and exchange views, will ensure that the Goodwill Forum is a premier summit for senior global executives.

In November 2005, Mission Hills Golf Club, China, affirmed by the Guinness World Records as the world's largest golf complex, and The Celtic Manor Resort, venue for the Ryder Cup in 2010, announced the creation of The Goodwill Trophy and Forum.

Dr David Chu J.P., Chairman of Mission Hills Group, said: "The vision behind The Goodwill Trophy and Business Forum is to bring international goodwill through golf. It is common practice to do business and make decisions on the fairways and on the green.

"That is why Mr Long Yongtu, who has been an advocate for the international trade movement in China, realised the significance of this event and was keen to be the keynote speaker for the Forum. Golf is a window for business networking and the Goodwill Trophy is a great opportunity to realise this in a burgeoning market."

Sir Terry Matthews, Chairman of The Celtic Manor Resort, said: "I am extremely pleased that somebody of the standing of Mr Long Yongtu has agreed to deliver a key note speech at the inaugural Goodwill Forum. I have no doubt that his vast experience in international economic relations will be of great benefit and interest to those senior executives who will be in attendance at The Goodwill Forum".

In 2007 The Goodwill Trophy and Business Forum will be held at The Celtic Manor Resort with the golf event played on the newly completed course that has been specifically designed to host the Ryder Cup in 2010.

The reciprocal partnership agreement between The Celtic Manor and Mission Hills Resorts was signed in June 2005 and was provides a cultural and business platform that reaches beyond the game of golf. Both organisations believe that international goodwill can be created through golf which in turn enhances trade, tourism and cultural exchange. This is the core principle behind the development of The Goodwill Trophy and Business Forum.
