Astro to be co-sponsor of Indonesia Open
Astro
announced their Co-Title Sponsorship of the countrys premier
golf tournament, the 2007 Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open. Astro
will join long term partner Enjoy Jakarta as Co-Title sponsors.
The Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open is one of the richest golf
tournaments in Asia offering a prize purse of US$1.05 million in
2007. The Open, co-sanctioned by the Asian and European Tours, carries
world ranking points that will attract some of the biggest names
in golf. It is one of Indonesias truly global sporting events,
and a highlight on the regional sporting calendar as well.
The Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open will be held for the first
time at the Damai Indah Golf and Country Club on the Pantai Indak
Kapuk Course from February 15-18, 2007. With a picturesque yet challenging
course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., next years Championship
will prove to be a test to some of the best players in the world.
The announcement of the 2007 event together with Astros three
year sponsorship was held at the Gran Melia Hotel in Jakarta. Present
at the announcement ceremony were the Governor of Jakarta Bpk. Sutiyoso,
President Director/Chief Executive Officer PT Direct Vision,
Mdm. Nelia Molato Sutrisno, Bpk. Daddy Hariadi, Executive
Treasurer of the Indonesia Golf Association (PGI), Managing Director
of Parallel Media Asia, Keld Kristiansen, David Garland of the European
Tour, Patrick Young, Director Tour Development of the Asian
Tour, Senior Advisor to the Indonesia Open, Ibu Miranda Goeltom,
Executive Director of Damai Indah Golf and Country Club, Ibu S.
Christine Wiradinata.
Astro is proud and excited to be associated with one of Indonesias
top sporting events. We have witnessed the tremendous growth of
the Indonesia Open in the last two years and we are now pleased
to be able play a major role in the further development of the national
Open on the international stage, said Mdm. Molato-Sutrisno.
Mdm. Molato-Sutrisno added that the sponsorship supports the overall
brand strategy of Astro.
The association with such a prestigious event provides an
exciting opportunity for Astro to build greater brand recognition
in an increasingly competitive and globalised world. Our sponsorship
will enable us to help develop one of the largest national sporting
events in Indonesia with a live television platform to over 60 countries.
We believe such an event reinforces our commitment to Indonesia
and enhances the Astro brand presence locally and internationally,
said Mdm. Molato-Sutrisno.
As inaugural Co-Title partner to the Indonesia Open, The City of
Jakarta believes that the event is effective in showcasing to the
world that Jakarta is a top business and tourism destination. At
this year's event, England's Simon Dyson claimed the title.
The growth of the Indonesia Open has been unbelievable. Since
its debut as a million-dollar event in 2005, it has quickly established
itself as one of the top golf events in the region, become a showcase
for the City of Jakarta, as well as for Indonesia in general. We
are glad to work with Co-Title sponsors Astro to build on the valuable
contributions of our partners in the past to take the event to the
next level, said Bpk. Sutiyoso.
Bpk. Daddy Hariadi said that PGI is very excited that the 2007 event
will be held at Damai Indah Golf and Country Club on the Pantai
Indah Kapuk Course.
He added that PGI is thrilled that the Indonesia Tourism Board are
continuing to build upon their association with the event which
began in 2005, and are committed to showcasing Indonesia and the
event to the global audience.
Asian Tours Young said We are looking forward to another
entertaining Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open with the talented
Asian Tour players producing some more great golf.
Garland reiterated European Tours commitment towards the Enjoy
Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open and is looking forward to another great
event in 2007.
Ibu Miranda Goeltom, the Senior Advisor to the Indonesia Open, believes
that the charity element to the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open
will again be a main cornerstone to the event as in previous years.
