Singh extends his lead in Japan
In-form
Jeev Milkha Singh of India stayed ahead of the field in the Yomiuri
Memorial on Saturday to stay within touch of a second consecutive
victory.
The Indian star, currently leading the Asian Tour's UBS Order of
Merit, carded a third round five-under-par 67 to extend his overnight
lead to three shots from Japan's Yoshikazu Haku.
He leads the Japan Golf Tour event with a three-day total of 18-under-par
198, a week after sensationally winning the Volvo Masters in Spain,
Europe's season-ending event.
Singh, ranked 77th in the world, shot nine birdies on the card against
four dropped shots but pulled clear of the field with an outstanding
finish of three closing birdies.
Chinese Taipei's Yeh Wei-tze will enter the final round in tied
12th place on 207 after posting a third round 73. Thailand's Prayad
Marksaeng was a further stroke back following a 67.
On the US PGA Tour, Korea's Choi Kyung-ju struggled in the second
round when he shot a 78 at The Tour Championship.
He was in tied 25th place alongside American Ben Curtis with a total
of 10-over-par 150. After carding a 67, Australia's Adam Scott,
the Barclays Singapore Open winner, was tied for the lead with American
Joe Durant as both players achieved a two-day total of four-under-par
136.
