Liang fights on at The Invitational

Liang Wen-chong continued to impress on his debut on the US PGA Tour when he scored six birdies against an equal number of bogeys at The International on Friday.

The Asian Tour member from China achieved six points in the Modified Stableford scoring system and was in tied 50th spot at Castle Pines Golf Club. Compatriot Zhang Lian-wei shot two birdies against a lone double bogey as he achieved one point at the second round which was suspended due to darkness.

Australia’s Kane Webber, who was the Macau Open winner, was unable to score a single point as he carded three birdies against six bogeys.

After a shaky start, India’s Arjun Atwal bounced back when he fired five birdies against four bogeys and snatched six valuable points to be placed 70th. Countryman Jeev Milkha Singh, the Asian Tour UBS Order of Merit leader, crumbled in the second round when he carded two birdies against seven bogeys.

American Patrick Sheehan was on top of the leaderboard as he managed to achieve eight points in the second round.

On the European Tour, Englishman Simon Dyson was even-par for the day as he was in tied seventh in the weather-delayed KLM Open in the Netherlands.

Thai ace Thongchai Jaidee was even-par for the second consecutive round at the par-71 Kennemer Golf and Country Club in tied 45th spot. India’s Shiv Kapur, however, carded back-to-back 75s.
