Liang misses cut by one point

China's Liang Wen-chong agonisingly missed the cut at The International after the third round on Saturday despite picking up seven points in the modified Stableford event.

The Asian Tour stalwart fired six birdies against five bogeys in Colorado but his three-day score of 14 points saw him miss the cut after the third day by an agonising one point. Liang put together a round of one-under-par 71.

American Zach Johnson leads the field with 27 points.

Earlier on Friday, Asian Tour members Jeev Milkha Singh, Zhang Liang-wei and former number one Arjun Atwal missed second round cut.

On the Nationwide Tour, Australia's Jarrod Lyle is in contention at the Xerox Classic after a third round 67 left him one stroke behind leader Steve Collins. Lyle carded six birdies against two bogeys and has a three-day aggregate of 204.

On the European Tour, England's Simon Dyson, currently fourth on the UBS Order of Merit, charged into the title hunt at the KLM Open in the Netherlands after he ended the third round in tied second place, three shots behind leader Damien McGrane.

Dyson carded a 66 and will be looking to add to his triumph at the Enjoy Jakarta HSBC Indonesia Open earlier this year with a final round flourish.

The Englishman, Asia's number one in 2000, was superb at Kennemer Golf and Country Club as he fired a blemish-free round that included five birdies for a 204 total.

Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee carded his week's best with a 69 for a 211 total, good for tied 40th place. He dropped an early bogey on the second but bounced back with three birdies over his back nine.

Australian David Bransdon was tied 33rd after carding a 71 for a 210 total.
