Ho snatches lead in Japan

Korea’s Hur Suk-ho took the lead when he fired his best round of six-under-par 66 at the Mizuno Open on Saturday.

Hur, who is better known as SK Ho, stood firmly on top after the third round with a 13-under-par 203 total, three strokes ahead of David Smail of New Zealand and Fijian Dinesh Chand who were in joint second place. The 32-year-old Korean enjoyed a solid round as he carded seven birdies against a lone bogey.

India’s Jeev Milkha Singh, the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit leader, slipped down to tied 14th spot as he was even-par for the day. He is eight strokes off the pace after a three-day total of 211. Singh will be gunning for a top-four finish to book his spot for The Open Championship in Royal Liverpool next month.

Birthday boy Thammanoon Srirot, who turns 37 today, shot a 71 in tied 11th position. Thammanoon shot a similar score in the first round followed by a 68. Compatriot Prayad Marksaeng, however, shot a 74.

On the European Tour, England's Simon Dyson, fourth on the UBS Order of Merit, continued his good run in the Johnnie Walker Championship in Gleneagles, Scotland when he carded a 69 to end the third round in tied 17th place. Dyson's three-day total of 213 is nine shots behind leader Paul Casey of England.

India's Jyoti Randhawa carded a 74 for joint 37th place on 217.
