Beijing Leg finale to be named Omega Championship

The 2006 Omega China Tour will reach a crescendo of excitement with the season-ending event in Beijing, which will be known as the Omega Championship.

"The name Omega Championship reflects the importance of the event," explained Kevin Rollenhagen, the President of Omega, China and Hong Kong.

"It is being played in the capital of the People's Republic of China, which immediately gives it a special status. It is the tournament that will confirm our champion of champions. It will decide the winner of the 2006 Omega Order of Merit, and it will also provide a fitting finale to a year of unprecedented competition, improvement, enjoyment and optimism among the ranks of China's professional golfers. It will also mark the last event in our first year of our sponsorship of the tour, which I'm delighted to say has been a resounding success."

The last of six legs on this year's Omega China Tour, the 2006 Omega Championship will be played at the Tianan Golf Club from 26th to 29th October.
