Singh finishes tied 14 at ANA Open in Japan

Indian stalwart Jeev Milkha Singh shot a two-under-par 69 as he finished in joint 14th position at the ANA Open in Japan.

Singh, the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit leader, fired a four-day total of five-under-par 279 and was in tied 14th spot alongside Thailand’s Chawalit Plaphol who carded a 70 in the final round.

The 34-year-old Indian got off to a bumpy start when he dropped a shot at the second hole but replied with a birdie at the par five fifth hole. He stumbled with another bogey on the 11th hole but came home strongly with birdies on the 12th, 15th and 17th holes.

After a sluggish second and third round, Thailand’s Thammanoon Srirot improved on Sunday with a 69 and claimed tied 48th spot.

Japan’s Tomohiro Kondo won the event as he fired a 69 to a winning total of 274.

On the US PGA Tour, Korea’s Choi Kyung-ju finished in joint 27th position at the 84 Lumber Classic after carding a 73 in the final round. He shot a four-day total of four-under-par 284.

Australia’s young gun Andrew Buckle blasted a three-under-par 68 as he finished in joint sixth place at the Albertsons Boise Open Presented by First Health.

Buckle, who is ranked fourth on the UBS Order of Merit, fired his second consecutive 68 as he ended his campaign with a 13-under-par 271 total on the Nationwide Tour event. Compatriot Jarrod Lyle shot a 69 on Sunday and claimed tied eighth spot.

The Brisbane-born Buckle fired three birdies against two bogeys. But the highlight of the day for the 23-year-old was the eagle at the par five 16th hole. Lyle carded two birdies against a lone bogey on the front nine but ended his day with a final birdie at the 18th hole.
