Singh continues up world rankings
India's
Jeev Milkha Singh continues to make strides forward on the Official
World Golf Ranking, moving up seven rungs to 63rd place on the latest
list.
Singh, who has secured two victories at the Volvo China Open and
Volvo Masters in Spain this year, finished joint third at the UBS
Hong Kong Open at the weekend, which was his 14th top-10 appearance
of the season.
It also ensured that the Indian will lift the UBS Order of Merit
title for the first time in his career at the season-ending Volvo
Masters of Asia at Thai Country Club from December 14-17.
If Singh maintains his position inside the top-64, he will gain
an exemption into the WGC-Accenture Match Play next year while a
top-50 spot by the end of the season will see him gain an invitation
to play in the US Masters next April.
Singh is amongst 14 Asian Tour members who currently feature in
the top-200 of the world ranking.
HSBC Champions winner Yang Yong-eun is placed at 36th while compatriot
Choi Kyung-ju, a four-time winner on the US PGA Tour, is 29th. India's
Jyoti Randhawa, who also finished equal third in Hong Kong, moved
up nine places to 80th position, followed by Hur Suk-ho of Korea
five rungs below.
England's Simon Dyson, winner of the Enjoy Jakarta HSBC Indonesia
Open this year, is ranked 88th, followed by Thai star Thongchai
Jaidee at 94th place. Australian Andrew Buckle, currently fourth
on the UBS Order of Merit, is 103rd.
Other Asian Tour members in the world's top-200 are Liang Wen-chong
of China (155th), Prayad Marksaeng of Thailand (162nd), Thaworn
Wiratchant of Thailand (173rd), India's Shiv Kapur (175th), American
Edward Loar (179th), Chinese Taipei's Wang Ter-chang (187th) and
Australian Scott Strange (195th).
Former Asian Tour regular Ted Purdy is 98th in the world while Daniel
Chopra is 148th.
