Volvo takes the train in Bangkok

Asia’s golf stars will ride Bangkok’s BTS Skytrain all the way to this month’s Volvo Masters of Asia, the finale to the Asian Tour season.

India’s Jeev Milkha Singh, the newly crowned Asian number one and recent winner of the season-ending Volvo Masters on the European Tour, 2005 Volvo Masters of Asia champion Shiv Kapur of India, former winner Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand and young gun Prom Meesawat are featured on a Skytrain as part of a publicity drive for the tournament.

The specially designed Skytrain promoting the Volvo Masters of Asia has been on track for several weeks in the build-up to the event.

The Volvo Masters of Asia, which brings together the top 60 players on the Asian Tour, will be staged at Thai Country Club, Bangkok from December 14-17.

"We thought this would be a novel way to publicise the Volvo Masters of Asia," said Mel Pyatt, President & Chief Executive Officer, Volvo Event Management.

"The Skytrain is used by tens of thousands of commuters every day and can be seen from office blocks throughout the city.

"The leading golfers in Asia will be playing in the Volvo Masters of Asia and by using their images on the Skytrain we are giving them exposure to the Bangkok travelling public.

"Hopefully they will be interested enough to come out and have a look at the players in action at Thai Country Club."
