Strong start keeps Buckle very much in Hope

Australian Andrew Buckle enjoyed a strong start at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic on Wednesday, shooting a bogey-free 67 for tied 12th place in the US PGA Tour event.

Buckle, making his debut in the world's most lucrative circuit, fired five birdies on the card and is four shots behind leader and compatriot Robert Allenby. Last week, the talented 24 year old finished tied 28th in the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Former Asian Tour regulars Kevin Na of Korea, Sweden's Daniel Chopra and American Ted Purdy also enjoyed under-par rounds in the 90-hole tournament. Na, the 2002 Volvo Masters of Asia winner, returned a 68, Chopra shot a 69 while Purdy settled for a 70.
