Randhawa creeps further up world ranking
Indias
Jyoti Randhawa posted his second top-10 finish in Europe this year
at the Open de France Alstom and moves up one place to 81st in the
Official World Golf Ranking.
Randhawa, the former Asian number one, continued his rise when he
claimed seventh place in France on Sunday and is a spot above Englishman
Simon Dyson on the world ranking.
The 35-year-old talent had previously carded his first top-10 result
in Europe this year at the Open de Espana in April and finished
tied 11th in Germany two weeks ago.
Liang Wen-chong of China, the Asian Tours UBS Order of Merit
leader, was placed 85th in the world while Thailands Thongchai
Jaidee was seven rungs below.
Koreas Choi Kyung-ju remained the highest ranked Asian player
in 20th position while Jeev Milkha Singh of India was in 57th position
and Koreas Yang Yong-eun, last years HSBC Champions
winner, was in 66th place.
South African Anton Haig was two spots about Aussie youngster Andrew
Buckle in 119th position while Kevin Na is ranked 130th. The other
Asian players ranked in the top-200 in the world include Prayad
Marksaeng (141st), Swedens Daniel Chopra (153rd), Gaurav Ghei
of India (163rd), Filipino legend Frankie Minoza (174th), Hus Suk-ho
(177th), Chapchai Nirat of Thailand (184th) and compatriot Prom
Meesawat (188th).
Claiming his 22nd Japan Tour victory in the UBS Japan Golf Tour
Championship at Shishido Hills has put Shingo Katayama back into
the world top 50 at number 42.
