Buckle makes strong finish ahead of maiden US Open
Australian Andrew Buckle finished tied 25th in the Standford St
Jude Championship after closing with a 71 on Sunday.
The Asian Tour stalwart, playing in his rookie season on the US
PGA Tour, had earlier carded rounds of 70, 66 and 75 and finished
with a four-day total of 282. American Woody Austin claimed the
title on 267 after signing off with a 62.
Buckle will play in the US Open, the year's second major, this week.
Dean Wilson, a former regular in Asia, enjoyed a tied fifth finish
with rounds of 70, 71, 66 and 68 for a 275 total while Sean Micheel
was equal 12th on 279. Japan's Daisuke Maruyama was amongst those
who shared 25th place with Buckle.
In the BA-CA Golf Open in Austria, David Bransdon of Australia settled
for joint 33rd position with rounds of 69, 68, 77 and 68, ending
the week on 278. Australian Richard Green lifted the title after
beating France's Jean Francois Remesy in a play-off after both players
ended tied atop the leaderboard on 268.
Terry Pilkadaris, a three-time winner on the Asian Tour, settled
for a share of 49th place on 282 while Peter Fowler was a further
stroke adrift.
