Thailand’s Prom Meesawat ended his Japan campaign on a high note when he blasted a superb seven-under-par 65 to claim lone second place at the Sega Sammy Cup on Sunday.

Prom, with one Asian Tour title under his belt, fired eight birdies against a dropped shot as he enjoyed his best finish in Japan with a four-day total of nine-under-par 279. The 22-year-old Thai talent ended his run three strokes behind champion Toru Taniguchi.

Filipino Frankie Minoza, who won the Philippine Open title this year, delivered a steady finish when he shot a 70 and claimed joint sixth position after a 285 total while Chawalit Plaphol of Thailand carded his best round of 67 in tied 14th place. Chinese Taipei’s Yeh Wei-tze struggled on the final day when he shot a 73 and finished in tied 32nd spot.

On the US PGA Tour, Kevin Na of Korea improved with a 67 for a 276 total as he claimed tied 32nd place at the John Deere Classic. American Jonathan Byrd shot a 66 and took the title after a winning total of 266.

In the Barclays Scottish Open, India’s Jyoti Randhawa remained steady in the closing stages when he shot his second consecutive 70 for a 280 total and ended in joint 32nd position. Compatriot Jeev Milkha Singh, the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit winner last year, carded a 73 for tied 43rd spot while Korea’s Yang Yong-eun claimed joint 55th position after a 72. Singapore’s Mardan Mamat endured a slow finish with a 76 and finished in 66th place.
