Wi has season's best second place at US Bank

Korea’s Charlie Wi delivered his best outing on the US PGA Tour this season when he finished joint second place at the US Bank Championship on Sunday.

Wi, who won the 2006 Maybank Malaysian Open, blasted a two-under-par 68 in the final round to finish four strokes behind champion Joe Ogilvie who enjoyed a winning total of 14-under-par 266.

The Korean fired five birdies against a lone dropped shot and a double bogey in the final day and finished ahead of Australian youngster Jarrod Lyle who carded a similar score in tied 37th place. Wi had previously chalked up a top-10 result at the Buick Invitational in January.

On the Nationwide Tour, Edward Loar was even-par in the final round for a 277 total and claimed joint 22nd spot at the Price Cutter Charity Championship. The American talent enjoyed a strong finish when he blasted an eagle at the final 18th hole.

Champion Tom Scherrer carded a 67 for a four-stroke triumph over Franklin Langham.
