Haig late birdie burst gets top 15 finish at Deutsche Bank
Asian
Tour member Anton Haig used a blistering finish to cap his best
outing since March at the Deutsche Bank Players Championship
in Germany on Sunday.
The big-hitting South African, second on the Asian Tours UBS
Order of Merit, birdied five of his last six holes for a final round
four-under-par 68 at Kut Gaden to finish in tied 15th place on 278.
He was nine shots behind Argentine sensation Andres Romero but Haig
would be delighted with his weeks work as it was his best
result since winning the Johnnie Walker Classic in Thailand in March.
Indias Shiv Kapur settled for a share of 37th place after
signing off with a 73 and a 281 total while Singaporean Mardan Mamat
was lower down the leaderboard in 62nd place after shooting a 74.
In the Canadian Open, Koreas Charlie Wi enjoyed another solid
week with a joint 22nd finish at the Canadian Open. Wi, who had
finished second in the previous week, carded a final round 69 for
a 276 total, eight shots behind winner Jim Furyk.
Australian Jarrod Lyle was amongst those who shared 47th place on
282 after he closed out his week with a 70 while Daisuke Maruyama
of Japan and American Ted Purdy, both winners previously in Asia,
were 66th and 58th respectively.
