Liang slips back on bad day in Japan
China’s Liang Wen-chong endured a frustrating day at the Japan Open as he slipped out of contention with a disappointing third round seven-over-par 79 on Saturday.
Liang, who started the day in third place, turned in 39 with three bogeys and then dropped two more double bogeys as he dropped back to tied 14th place on 221, 10 shots behind leader Koumei Oda.
Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng and Prom Meesawat fired matching 73s to share tied 19th place on 222.
In the Madrid Open, Shiv Kapur of India moved up to tied 20th place after shooting a fine 69 for a 211 total. He is eight shots behind leader Daniel Vancsik going into the final round.
South African James Kingston carded a 73 for tied 35th place while Terry Pilkadaris of Australia was 45th following a 73.
In the Frys.Com Open in the United States, Korea’s Kevin Na was tied 19th following a 69 for a 206 total. He is nine shots behind leader George McNeil.
India’s Arjun Atwal carded a 72 for equal 36th place alongside Sweden’s Daniel Chopra, who was one shot higher in the third round. Australian Jarrod Lyle carded a 76 to slip back to 54th position.
