Prayad claims another top 10 in Japan

Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng produced his best round of four-under-par 68 as he finished in tied sixth spot at the Japan Open Golf Championship on Sunday.

Prayad, with five Asian Tour titles under his belt, smashed in six birdies against four bogeys and ended his round in style with an eagle at the par five 18th hole.

The Hua-hin based stalwart finished five strokes ahead of China’s Liang Wen-chong who posted a 74 for a 295 total. Prom Meesawat of Thailand stumbled to a 76 as he ended in tied 32nd spot.

Toru Taniguchi won the tournament after a 66 for a 283 total.

In the Madrid Open, Shiv Kapur of India shot a 71 and claimed joint 18th position. His 282 total was three strokes ahead of South African James Kingston who carded a similar score in the final round. Australia’s Terry Pilkadaris posted his second straight 73 as he claimed tied 55th place.

Denmark’s Mads Vibe-Hastrup took the top prize after a 67 for a winning total of 272.

In the Frys.com Open, Kevin Na nailed a 71 in the closing round to claim tied 19th position. India’s Arjun Atwal improved with a 69 and finished a stroke behind Na for a 278 total.

Sweden’s Daniel Chopra produced an even-par performance in tied 44th spot while Australia’s Jarrod Lyle finished in joint 54th place when he carded a 71.

George McNeill delivered his second consecutive 67 and took the title after a 264 total.
