Dyson is runner-up after Volvo Masters playoff
England’s Simon Dyson who is currently lying 11th on the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit narrowly missed out on an European triumph after fellow compatriot Justin Rose beat him and Dane Soren Kjeldsen in a three-way play-off at the Volvo Masters in Spain yesterday.
The trio had finished on one-under 283 and had to battle it out in a three-way play-off. The win was eventually sealed when Rose holed a birdie putt at the second extra hole.
"I played great. This isn't one of my favourite courses, to be honest, but it shows my mental strength. It was a good week,” said Dyson.
2006 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, Jeev Milkha Singh battled to a 76, 74, 74 and 76 for a 300 total to claim 29th place while Yang Yong Eun, defending champion at this week’s HSBC Champions finished in 37th place on 302.
Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee ended his campaign on 308 to take the 46th spot.
In the Children’s Miracle Network Classic on the US PGA Tour, Australia’s Jarrod Lyle settled for a share of 41st place with a 282 total. Korea’s Charlie Wi was 63rd on 285. The title was won by Stephen Ames from Canada.
