Brendan Jones makes it a Tsuruya Open hat-trick
Australian
Brendan Jones has fired a three-under-par final round of 68 to claim
his third Tsuruya Open in Japan.
The 32-year-old New South Welshman nailed five birdies and two
bogeys during his round to hold off a late challenge from Hirofumi
Miyase, Masahiro Kuramoto and Takuya Taniguchi who finished in a
tie for second place at 14-under-par.
Outright fifth was Katsumasa Miyamoto at 13-under-par, while Tadahiro
Takayama and Toru Taniguchi finished two strokes further adrift
at 11-under-par.
The victory for Jones was his third Tsuruya Open title having previously
been successful in 2004 and 2006. He did not play in 2005, as he
was competing on the US PGA Tour.
The victory takes Jones to second on the Japan Tour money list,
behind last week's winner Yui Ueda.
