With five of the world’s top-10 and nine of the world’s top-20 already confirmed, this is without question the best stroke play field to ever been assembled in China. The players will compete for a $5 million prize fund at the HSBC Champions.

Other star names already confirmed are 2007 US Open Champion from Argentina Angel Cabrera, 2007 Open Champion, Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, two-time US Open Champion Retief Goosen of South Africa and world number two Phil Mickelson of United States. South Africa’s Ernie Els, who is ranked fifth in the world, world number 10 Sergio Garcia of Spain, and world number 12 Vijay Singh. Defending Champion, Yang Yong-eun has also confirmed he will be back to defend his title.

Giles Morgan, HSBC’s Head of Sports Sponsorship and Marketing, added: “The interest and enthusiasm of so many of the world’s best players is unprecedented and to have so many of the world’s best players in the field will make for a dramatic week. We are thrilled at the impact the HSBC Champions has had in Asia and around the world over the last two years and look forward to making the third HSBC Champions our best yet.”

Tickets are now on sale for the HSBC Champions tournament at the Sheshan International Golf Club, Shanghai, November 8-11.

Golf fans will be able to take advantage of a special HSBC Champions early bird discount promotion which will run until 10th October offering a fantastic 15% discount off ticket price. As a further bonus purchasers of the ‘early bird’ tickets will be eligible to enter a lucky draw at www.hsbcgolf.com where a lucky winner will be randomly drawn every 10 days to win RMB 4,999 worth of event souvenirs.

Last year’s field included representatives from over 20 countries making it one of the most international on the schedule. The tournament also attracted famous names from other sports, with world tennis number one Roger Federer and Spanish ace Rafael Nadal visiting the Sheshan International Golf Club to watch the action.

The HSBC Champions is also the only tournament where winners from around the world are rewarded with an invitation to compete against the world’s leading players for the largest prize fund on offer in Asia of US$5 million.

HSBC Champions will be played at the Sheshan International Golf Club. The event is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, European Tour, PGA Tour of Australasia, the Sunshine (Southern Africa) Tour, and the China Golf Association.
