Indonesia Open to go ahead on schedule
The
Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open 2007 will take place as scheduled
from February 15-18 at Damai Indah Golf and Country Club, organisers
announced today.
Heavy rains in Jakarta over the last week have resulted in flooding
around certain parts of the city. As a result, there has been some
disruption to some low lying areas. There have been some lane closures
on certain roads due to flooding, but the central business district
remains largely unaffected with businesses operating as per usual,
with only rush hour traffic around Jakarta a little heavier than
on most days.
Transportation is running smoothly and with the official hotel,
Gran Melia Jakarta and the host venue at Pantai Indah Kapuk located
just off the main toll road linking the airport with central Jakarta,
there remains full access for participants and spectators alike.
Damai Indah Golf & Country Club at Pantai Indah Kapuk is situated
near the coast and is renowned for being located in a traditionally
dry area. The course itself has not experienced much rain and preparations
for the upcoming tournament have continued, largely unaffected.
The course is near tournament condition, marquees are being completed,
on-course signage put up and the television production teams are
already beginning their preparations.
Keld Kristiansen, Managing Director of tournament promoters Parallel
Media Asia, commented: "This is an event of global scale and
meticulous planning has been put into place, with the players and
the public in mind. As has been the case in previous years, we are
again working hand in hand with the host venue, the Jakarta Government
and other relevant parties to ensure that all aspects of the tournament
will run smoothly and come next week, the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia
Open 2007 will be a successful event."
The Jakarta Governor's office stated: "Although there has been
flooding in certain parts of the city this has not affected any
of the preparations for the upcoming Indonesia Open. There are no
issues with transportation, clean water, sanitation and security
as per previous Indonesia Opens. We look forward to next week as
hosts of an international event such as the Enjoy Jakarta Astro
Indonesia Open."
