Choi goes down to Stenson
Asia's
interest in the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship ended on Thursday
when Korean star Choi Kyung-ju was beaten by Sweden's Henrik Stenson
in the second round.
Stenson, winner of the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this month,
triumphed in the showdown two-up over Choi, who put up a gallant
fight in the US$8 million event.
Choi led by one hole through the turn after winning the opening
hole before the Swede took command by going two-up by winning three
holes on the 10th, 11th and 14th holes. Choi birdied the 15th and
16th to square the match once more but Stenson provided the killer
blows with birdies over his final two holes to win the match.
In the first round, India's Jeev Milkha Singh and Korea's Yang Yong-eun
lost to Stewart Cink and Rod Pampling respectively.
