Choi slips back in second round

Choi Kyung-ju of Korea slipped down the leaderboard after a three-over-par 73 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard on Friday.

Choi, who struck a solid 67 in the opening round, was in joint 39th position after a 140 total while a stroke behind was compatriot Yang-yong-eun, who won the HSBC Champions last year, as he improved with a 69 in tied 53rd place.

After a 78 on Thursday, India’s Jeev Milkha Singh, last year’s Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit winner, was even-par for the day in the second round but failed to make the cut after a 148 total. Sweden’s Daniel Chopra, a former Asian Tour regular, also missed the mark after a 72 while Korea’s Charlie Wi withdrew from the tournament.

Overnight leader Tiger Woods shot a 73 and dropped to tied 13th spot while American Rocco Mediate carded a 65 to grab the second round lead.
