Choi's 69 earns share of 19th in Houston

Korea’s Choi Kyung-ju fired his best round of three-under-par 69 as he finished in joint 19th position at the Shell Houston Open on Sunday.

Choi, a former Asian Tour regular, chalked up five birdies against two dropped shots for a 280 total and finished a stroke ahead of Sweden’s Daniel Chopra who ended his US campaign with a 73 in tied 24th position.

India’s Jeev Milkha Singh endured a slow finish when he shot a 79 in lone 78th place at the Redstone Golf Club. Champion Adam Scott of Australia scored a 66 for a 271 total and ended his day with a comfortable three stroke triumph over compatriot Stuart Appleby.

On the European Tour, England’s Simon Dyson improved in the final round when he shot a 71 and finished in joint 21st position at the Estoril Open de Portugal. Spaniard Pablo Martin-Benavides became the first ever amateur to win on the European Tour international circuit when he took the title after a 68 for a 277 total.
