Choi in top ten after opening round - Woods struggles
Koreas Choi Kyung-ju got off to a solid start at The Players
Championship when he fired a one-under-par 71 in the opening round
on Thursday.
Choi, who has won four times on the US PGA Tour, enjoyed a smooth
run on the back nine with two birdies and coupled with a lone birdie
against two bogeys on the way home, the Asian stalwart ended the
day in joint ninth position at Sawgrass.
South African Rory Sabbatini carded a 67 and was tied alongside
American Phil Mickelson at the top of the leaderboard.
Swedens Daniel Chopra shot a 74 and was in tied 41st place
together with top players that include Fijian Vijay Singh and Adam
Scott of Australia. A stroke behind the Swedish talent was a struggling
Tiger Woods with three bogeys alongside former Asian Tour regular
