Choi fires opening 64 at Sony
Koreas
Choi Kyung-ju enjoyed a brilliant start after firing a superb six-under-par
64 at the Sony Open in Hawaii on Thursday.
The former Asian Tour regular grabbed sole second position after
scoring four birdies coupled with an eagle at the par five 18th
hole. Maintaining a clean run on the front nine, Choi finished the
round one stroke behind Luke Donald as the Englishman shot a 63.
Daniel Chopra of Sweden was in joint 24th spot after a 68 alongside
Australian youngster Jarrod Lyle who delivered a solid end to his
round with an eagle at the par five ninth hole.
Australias Andrew Buckle was even-par for the day together
with Koreas Charlie Wi, who was last years Maybank Malaysian
Open winner, as the duo were in joint 61st position.
Starting on the back nine, Filipino Juvic Pagunsan battled the conditions
at the Kapalua Golf Resort with six bogeys but a birdie at the final
ninth hole pushed him to tied 134th place after a 75.
