Brown finishes joint sixth in New Zealand

The Asian Tour’s Mark Brown fired a one-under-par 71 as he claimed joint sixth place in the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship on Sunday.

Brown finished three strokes behind champion Nicholas Thompson of United States who shot a 68 for an eight-under-par 280 total on the Nationwide Tour event. Another rookie Lee Won-joon of Australia carded a 73 and claimed tied 40th position. Mahal Pearce shot a similar in joint 67th place while Australia’s Neven Basic slipped with a 76 on the final day in lone 78th spot.

On the US PGA Tour, Swedish talent Henrik Stenson defeated Geoff Ogilvy two and one to lift the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship title. Korea’s Choi Kyung-ju lost to the champion in the second round on Thursday.

South Africa’s Des Terblanche scored a 68 and claimed joint seventh place at the Telkom PGA Championship in Johannesburg. With a 17-under-par 271 total, Terblanche was tied alongside Bardford Vaughan who carded a 71. Louis Oosthuizen shot a 65 and took the title after a 266 total.
