The memorable name “Phokeethra”, derived from Sansakrit words Bhogi, the powerful Phya Naga serpent spirit and Dhara meaning a large city. “Phokeethra” is the city of the mythical Naga, is a regional legend symbolising peace and prosperity.

In ancient Buddhist literature the Naga was delivered to link earth to the richness of heaven and, still today. Siem Reap abounds with myths and carving of this benevolent force.

Phokeethra Country Club is steeped in the history of the region. Within its grounds stands the magnificent ancient “Roluh” bridge dating back to a Khmer expire in the 11th Century AD and older than the famous “Angkor Wat”.

The bridge represents the link between the past and the present day.

Now listed as a historical site in Cambodia, with recognition from Apsara Authority for the protection and Management of Angkor and Siem Reap.
