Five to watch this week

Thaworn Wiratchant
Thaworn Wiratchant returned to the winners circle after a magnificent play-off battle for his ninth title on the Asian Tour last week. Returning to a place where he had claimed the top spot back in 2004, Thaworn will be eager to steer clear from the field at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club.

S.S.P Chowrasia
With new irons and a change in putter, S.S.P Chowrasia will be itching to claim his maiden triumph on the Asian Tour. Since his disqualification in last year’s edition, Chowrasia will be eager to snatch back his five stroke advantage halfway through and complete a dominant wire-to-wire success.

Chinarat Phadungsil
Determined to make it into the HSBC Champions, Chinarat is tipped to stay among the front runners this week after two solid seasons on the Asian Tour. Coming off a sudden death lost to Thaworn in China, the teenage sensation will be chasing after his third title in three years.

Gaurav Ghei
With a pair of steady hands this season, defending champion Gaurav Ghei will enter as a favourite for a back-to-back triumph. His success last year saw him break an 11-year wait which had reignited his form. He missed the cut in China last week but he is a hot pick to stay in the top of the field in Taipei.

Prayad Marksaeng
Prayad Marksaeng will make his first appearance in the second half of the Asian Tour this week. He has already chalked up four top-10 finishes including a runner-up spot at the Bangkok Airways Open. Playing on a course with almost similar features to the one in Thailand with tight fairways and tricky greens, Prayad will be expected to steer clear at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club.
