Jin Park and Yang Yong-eun win US Tour cards

Asian Tour members Jin Park and Yang Yong-eun successfully earned their US PGA Tour cards after surviving the gruelling six-round Qualifying School Finals which concluded on Monday.

Park, who is Korean-American, finished fourth with a 22-under-par 410 aggregate, seven shots behind winner Frank Lickliter III who earned medallist honours. Yang enjoyed a successful campaign when he finished joint sixth on 412.

Park, who played his rookie season in Asia this year, took a gamble by skipping the last three events on the Asian Tour which were required to meet his minimum number of events to maintain his position on the UBS Order of Merit.

He had enjoyed a memorable fourth place finish at the Barclays Singapore Open which earned him a big cheque of US$197,200 and shot him into the top-20 of the UBS Order of Merit.

However, the US-based Park decided to give up his status on the Asian Tour to focus on his Qualifying School campaign in the US.

Yang’s success meant he redeemed himself after failing to secure his card from last year’s Qualifying School.

Australians Jarrod Lyle and Lee Won-joon finished 47th and 133rd respectively.
