Choi and Dyson in - Liang, Jeev, Yang and Thongchai out
Choi
Kyung-ju added a second straight one-over-par 71 at the 89th PGA
Championship on Friday for tied 19th position at the halfway stage
of the years final Major.
Choi, better known as KJ, made 17 pars and one bogey at Southern
Hills Country Club and his two-day total of 142 left him eight shots
behind leader Tiger Woods, the worlds number one.
Woods flirted with history, nearly becoming the first player to
shoot a 62 in Major golf competitions before settling for a 63 which
gave him a two-shot lead over Scott Verplank.
Asian Tour member Simon Dyson of England shot a 71 to move up to
42nd place on 144 but it was the end of the road for several other
of the regions stars.
Chinas Liang Wen-chong, making his Major debut, bowed out
with a 74, his 147 total being two shots more than the halfway cut.
Indias Jeev Milkha Singh, last years UBS Order of Merit
champion, and Yang Yong-eun of Korea also missed the cut at 150
with Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand a further three strokes back after
improving on his nightmarish 80 on Thursday with a 73 on Friday.
Other big names to miss the cut include twice PGA Champion Vijay
Singh and world number two Jim Furyk, as well as 2007 major Champions
Angel Cabrera and Zach Johnson.
