16 Asian Tour members in world top 200
A
total of 16 Asian Tour members are ranked inside the top-200 on
the latest Official World Golf Ranking released on Monday.
Filipino veteran Frankie Minoza moved into 151st position following
his victory at the Philippine Open at the weekend but Korea's Yang
Yong-eun heads the list of Tour members at 30th place.
India's Jeev Milkha Singh, last year's UBS Order of Merit winner,
is 37th in the world, followed by Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand who
is 69th. Thongchai, chasing a third Maybank Malaysian Open title
this week, is aiming to break into the world's top-50 to qualify
for the Masters in April.
He will also hope to move up by five rungs this week to qualify
for the WGC-Accenture Match Play in the US in two weeks time.
India's Jyoti Randhawa moved to 86th place following his tied seventh
finish at the Dubai Desert Classic. England's Simon Dyson is 89th
on the list, followed by Australian Andrew Buckle who is a rung
below.
The other Asian Tour members on the rankings include Liang Wen-chong
of China (111th), Prayad Marksaeng of Thailand (156th), Prom Meesawat
of Thailand (166th), Korea's Charlie Wi (172nd), Thailand's Thaworn
Wiratchant (174th), American Edward Loar (180th), Shiv Kapur of
India (182nd) and Australian Jarrod Lyle (187th).
Korean star Choi Kyung-ju, who cut his professional teeth on the
Asian Tour before finding success on the US PGA Tour, is the highest
ranked Asian player in the World Ranking at 23rd place.
